ABN AMRO bank supports Green Award for inland barges

Green Award for inland navigation vessels welcomes a new incentive provider. Friday 14th October, 2011, ABN AMRO announced their plans to support the certification programme for inland shipping by reimbursing a half of certification costs to the bank clients participating in the Green Award scheme.

ABN AMRO handed over bank cheques to inland shipping entrepreneurs as a symbolic gesture during a lunch held on the 14th of October 2011. The bank’s director Ton de Jong emphasized in his speech how important it is for the bank to support the inland shipping sector where possible. He said: “Such a certification scheme is perfectly in line with our Corporate Social Responsibility policy. Furthermore the inland shipping has to promote its “green” character especially in competition with other modalities. Green Award is a perfect tool to achieve it and we fully support it.”
